The 2025 Youngstown Showdown is cancelled and the weekend of July 11th has been given back to the park or the league.
The St. Louis Cardinals selected West Virginia middle infielder JJ Wetherholt with the seventh overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft Sunday night. Wetherholt played for the late Don Pletcher and the Astro Falcons. Congratulations and good luck JJ.

Colorado Rockies scout Ed Santa will conduct his annual showcase at Bob Cene Park on Saturday, August 10th. In conjunction with the showcase, teams from the Class B League are welcome to put together a team to play games that weekend. Each team will play one game Saturday night and two games on Sunday. The cost per team is $400.

Former Youngstown Class B player, JJ Wetherholt was just named as a 1st team Collegiate All American. JJ is a sophmore at West Virginia Univ. JJ also was crowned the Big 12 Player of the Year and a semifinalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy. JJ also had the 2nd best batting average in college baseball for 2023 with a .443 BA/ 15 HRs/ 56 RBIs/ 94Hs.
